FALL TEACHING ARTISTS
Paramount School of the Arts, a non-profit school that teaches theater, music, dance and visual arts in both private and group settings is seeking Fall Teaching Artists. A part of Aurora Civic Center Authority (ACCA), an innovative organization located on the Fox River in the heart of historic Aurora, Illinois (one hour from downtown Chicago). The organization operates three venues: the 6,000-person RiverEdge Park, the 1,843-seat landmark Paramount Theatre, and the 173-seat Copley Theatre. ACCA produces and presents over 300 performances each year, including star-studded touring productions and a self-produced Broadway Series of musicals, which has amassed over 41,000 series subscribers in nine seasons and is the second-largest musical theatre subscription based in the United States. It also includes the John C. Dunham Aurora Arts Center, where Paramount School of the Arts operates, rehearsal spaces, and guest artist apartments.
The ideal candidate possesses a love of teaching, a passion for the arts, ability to effectively teach engaging curriculum via zoom and in person, and someone who is looking to make a positive difference in students’ lives.

POSITION STATUS & SCHEDULE – Part-time, per class; hours vary and include evenings and weekends and are class dependent
COMPENSATION – Paid per class session, varies based on experience and education.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – The Paramount School of the Arts is offering 24 fall courses in theater, music and dance this fall. The first 7 weeks of every course will be via zoom online, with the hopes of classes resuming in person on week eight if it is safe to do so. We are looking for dynamic teachers who can deliver engaging lesson plans and develop positive relationships with students while sharing their passion for the arts. Please find below the positions that are currently open:
- Voice and Speech Teaching Artist (Teaching Voice and Speech to Musical Theater Institute Students)
- Musical Theater Teaching Artists (Classes: Musical Characters, Broadway Bound!, Youth Theater Conservatory, Musical Theater Institute)
- Theater Teacher Artists (Classes: Kids Take The Stage; Beginning Acting; Intermediate Acting, Text Analysis, Acting Fundamentals, Acting Foundations and Creative Dramatics)
- Dance: (Classes: Musical Theater Dance, Jazz & Ballet Technique, Paramount Dance Project Company)
- Music: Looking for teachers experienced playing piano and coaching musical theater students. We are always looking for high quality private instructors in instruments and voice.
Teaching Artists interested in teaching one or more of our fall courses should look for full descriptions on our website of all classes at www.paramountschool.com. Classes are typically held Monday-Thursday starting at 4pm and ending by 9:30pm. Fall courses begin September 2nd and end December 21st. Teachers will be teaching online for at least the first 7 weeks. A one-day online training seminar is required for all teaching artists.
In addition to the duties listed above, ACCA expects the following of each employee: adheres to ACCA’s policies and procedures; works in a safe manner; performs duties as workload necessitates; maintains a positive and respectful attitude; communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues; demonstrates efficient time management and prioritizes workload; demonstrates regular and consistent attendance and punctuality; meets productivity standards; participates in ACCA events as needed or required; and completes other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS and ABILITIES – We are seeking to employ teaching artists in all areas of the arts. A teaching certification is not required, though teaching experience is preferred. Must be comfortable teaching online courses via zoom.
